About the role

We are looking for an ambitious, organised and motivated Deputy Director to help lead our organisation.

You will lead the fundraising, finance and operations of Ministry of Stories to ensure an effective, resilient and sustainable organisation that meets the growing needs and ambitions of our young writers, their families and schools.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a confident and organised leader to work closely with the Director to continue the growth and resilience of our organisation. You’ll drive successful fundraising and trading income, and understand how our communications can support this.

You will be a forward planner with an ability to respond to opportunity and manage risk. With keen attention to detail as well as the overview, you’ll have strong financial management skills. You will be great with people, have excellent communication skills, and be able to bring the best out in our team.

You will enjoy working in a supportive, busy and fun environment and be motivated by our commitment to champion the writer in every child.

Why join our team?

Ministry of Stories is a team of passionate, skilled and motivated people who share an ambition to champion the writer in every child.

It’s an exciting time to join Ministry of Stories as our organisation continues to grow and flourish. We’ve expanded our Community Writing Labs to support more children to access free writing programmes each week at our dedicated writing centre in east London.

Our Schools programme has grown significantly over the last four years, and we know there is the potential for us to do a lot more.

Our attention-grabbing shop, Hoxton Street Monster Supplies, continues to serve our monster customer base – in store, online and through our wholesale partners.

Our approach to recruitment

We have a flexible and welcoming team culture and are open to exploring your needs and preferences as part of the recruitment process.

Our programmes and shop proudly serve a wonderfully diverse east London community. We particularly welcome candidates who define themselves as:

  • Black, Black British Caribbean and Black British African
  • Asian and Asian British
  • Turkish
  • Mixed Ethnicity
  • From our local area (Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Islington)
