A New Chapter
This September we will be saying farewell to our fantastic Director and Co-founder Lucy Macnab.
It is with immense pride and a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our Director and Co-founder Lucy Macnab, who will be stepping down from her role at the Ministry of Stories this September.
For the past eight years Lucy has been instrumental in the success and impact of the Ministry, leading the charity from a volunteer-led start-up to a national award-winning arts organisation.
From day one painting walls in our Hoxton Street centre to events at 10 Downing St and partnerships with record labels, Lucy has always ensured that the young writers of Hoxton have a place to discover the power of stories.
Lucy will be taking this passion and commitment for young peoples’ futures to her new role as Senior Manager for Children, Young People & Learning at Arts Council England. As part of this, she will be helping to shape the ten year strategy for Children and Young People, drawing on her experience of the beliefs, values and creativity of the Ministry’s work to contribute to the future of arts education in the UK.
Lucy says, “Co-founding the Ministry of Stories with Nick and Ben is something I will always be unbelievably proud of. From creating every kind of writing project, be it songs, soap operas or our secessionist state, it has been the most creative, positive and transformational work. It’s transformed children’s sense of themselves, and adults too – parents, volunteers, writers.”
As we start a new chapter of the Ministry story, Interim Director Emily Webb will lead the way supported by Deputy Director Kirsty Telford and a great senior management team.
As we say farewell to Lucy, we will continue to champion young people’s writing and the power of creativity and imagination with an exciting programme of work including our upcoming Anemotions and brand new writing clubs.
Could you be our new Director?
We will be recruiting towards the end of year. Email kirsty@ministryofstories.org to find out more.
