My Wild Adventure: Greg Nay
Riding North for young writers in East London
980 miles in just 5 days
The Ministry of Stories is a place that I wish existed when I was a kid, a time when I was furiously jotting down mad scribblings about alternate dimensions and fantastical realms. These stories were what stoked the fire of my imagination. It would have been awesome to have the knowledge that through some guidance that bubbling cauldron of ideas could be turned into something productive.
I feel that the Ministry’s workshops are a wonderful way of instilling confidence in children, whether they want to be writers or astronauts. The seed for that powerful message that their voice is there to be heard is firmly planted at the Ministry.
Having volunteered here I have witnessed first hand the magic that can happen at a place like this.
As it is charity that relies on donations, it is my intention to do a bike ride in the hopes of raising £3,000 for this honourable establishment and I set off on Monday (4th October)! Find out how my fundraising is going, here!
So here comes the physical exertion part…..
On the 4th of October 2021,
I have set myself the goal of riding from Land’s End to John O’ Groats. From one end of this fair British Isle to the other. 980 miles in a five day blitz North. It will be nearly 200 miles of demon busting, monster grinding miles a day!
Through national parks and the deepest darkest parts of my mind, body and soul. I hope that you will join me on this journey by donating what you can to an inspirational cause.
Day three will be a war of attrition as I have 12,000 feet of climbing to do! Which is on top of the 200 miles of riding that day!
Please help to add power to my pedals by making a donation to my fundraising page today!
Have a watch of this video to find out more about what the Ministry of Stories gets up to on a daily basis.
My tips for doing a fundraiser:
Choose a charity that you believe in and is close to your heart. Your root motivation starts with the organisation with which you are trying to raise funds for. Believe in them, and it’s easier to believe in yourself.
The best part will be rolling into the highlands of Scotland. It’s somewhere that has been built up to a mythical status in my mind. There is nothing like visiting a place you’ve never been to before. Even better by bike as you have time to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the environment around you.
When fatigue has me in a stranglehold, the mantra for me is that I’m doing this for a noble cause and I am making a difference in somebody’s life. Knowing that will give me new reserves of energy and the motivation to continue!
