We’re on the move…

Posted by theministry on 1st July 2026

This September, we’re moving to a brand new home on Kingsland Road

After 15 brilliant years on Hoxton Street we are moving to create an even bigger and bolder writing centre that will welcome hundreds more young writers.

The move comes at a time when our waiting lists are full and the need for even more creative opportunities for young people to have their voice heard is clear.

In the new space we will be able to welcome 200 young people a week and see 3,000 children a year through our schools programme.

We will be building versatile workshop spaces, with lots of Ministry of Stories magic – plans for secret doors and homes for invisible cats are being drawn up as we speak – and there will be more areas to write, read and create together (and even a special nook for BookBot, our vending book machine.)

There are also lots of other exciting upgrades, including:

  • A new space for families and volunteers to chat, grab a drink and relax together
  • Bike and scooter racks
  • Meeting rooms and event spaces
  • More room for our library
  • A whole new imaginative entrance for our writing centre.

Rob Smith, Director says: “Our new home offers an incredible opportunity to create inspiring spaces for our young writers, to expand our programmes to meet the needs of our growing waiting lists, and show young people just how important they are. We can’t wait to bring more of the Ministry magic to our new home, with our usual mix of mischief, fun and creativity.”

But we also want to do more. This space is going to be a step-up for Ministry of Stories to really champion the importance of creativity, imagination and belonging while remaining within the heart of our community.

Our new dedicated writing centre will create a world of learning environments to suit the different needs and moods of our writers, where we will continue to create bold and ambitious work devised and created by our 6-18 year olds.

It’s an exciting new chapter and we can’t wait to begin.
