DreamState

Join us on a journey through the imagination…

An arch in a rundown basement type environment glows invitingly.

This Summer, we are taking over the Ditch at Shoreditch Town Hall to bring you a playful exhibition that lets you wander through and interact with our young writers’ imaginations.

Each of the eight rooms at the Ditch will be transformed into a dreamscape based on the writing and imagination of over 100 of our Community Lab members aged between 6 -15.

Maybe you’ll party with a neon leopard or discover a brand new plant. Whatever adventure you choose, you can bring the whole family along to discover a series of eight rooms tied to a mix of original stories, including:

  • a banqueting hall where you can enjoy the written word as a meal
  • a relaxation zone designed to help you unwind
  • a nostalgia room that lets you open up a door to your childhood memories
  • a celebration room filled with glitter and confetti where you can choose to party with a neon leopard
  • an eerie room complete with its own scariness scale (so you can choose the level of spooky you’re comfortable with)
  • a botanist workshop with strange new plants you may never have encountered
  • the control room, to see where all the ideas come from
  • the ‘dream dream’ room, where you will have the chance to create your own DreamState

Each room has been built and realised by the brilliant creative team make:good who are no strangers to the scale and ambition of our young people having executed our past project Unexpected Poetry.

Rob Smith, Director, Ministry of Stories adds: “The children who take part in our community writing labs are imaginative, fun and playful so there is no better way to show you their work than with DreamState. It will bring to life dreams, memories and stories, transporting guests to a world beyond their imagination. We can’t wait to invite you in and kick off the summer holidays together.”

Book your tickets for DreamState
