Championing Inclusivity with the Portal Trust
We are delighted to have received funding support from The Portal Trust
We are delighted that The Portal Trust, one of London’s leading educational charities, has awarded us funding to champion inclusivity in our Community Labs.
Dedicated to supporting educational opportunities for young people in the capital, the Trust will gift £60,000 over the next three years. Richard Foley, Chief Executive of The Portal Trust, said:
“We’re delighted to support the Ministry of Stories again to help young people in east London build confidence through creative writing. Their workshops are designed to help all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, find their voice and feel valued. By nurturing creativity and self-expression, the Ministry of Stories inspires young people to be proud of their ideas alongside improving their literacy skills.”
With the Trust’s support, we will continue to develop our programmes so our young people have fun, exciting and powerful writing opportunities. We’ll be able to offer the safety, inclusivity, and targeted, mentor-led support that our young writers – both those with SEND and their neurotypical peers – need to thrive. We are delighted that we will get this invaluable support in keeping young imaginations whirring!
Rob Smith, Director of Ministry of Stories, adds:
“With a shared understanding of the importance of creating inclusive, accessible and inspiring spaces for young people, our partnership will help keep our programmes free for families and begin to grow our weekly programmes to reach more young people every week.”
