We help young people to write brighter futures for themselves through the power of their ideas and imagination.
Co-founded by author Nick Hornby in 2010, we help young people discover their confidence, imagination and potential through the power of their writing.
We develop self-respect and communication skills through innovative writing programmes and one-to-one mentoring for children living in under-resourced communities, working in schools and at our dedicated writing centre in east London.
We challenge aspirations through valuing creativity and imagination, empowering young people to find their voice.
We believe writing has the power to change lives. It’s a tool for telling your story, processing experiences, building a sense of community, and sharing your voice.
When young people feel confident, heard, and empowered through their writing, they can access opportunities, achieve their true potential, and maybe even change the world.
Our innovative writing programmes and workshops are devised and delivered by professional writers to schools in east London and we provide free after-school writing labs for children in our community at our writing centre, hidden behind our own fantastical shop Hoxton Street Monster Supplies.
It’s rewarding work. But we can’t do it alone. We depend on a community of over 200 amazing volunteers to help us fire up young people’s imaginations. (You could be one of them.)
PLACES LIKE MINISTRY OF STORIES SHOULD BE WIDELY AVAILABLE. AS SAFE, INVITING SPACES BETWEEN HOME AND SCHOOL. THEY PROVIDE PLACES FOR CHILDREN TO EXPLORE IDEAS AND GROW THEIR READING AND WRITING SKILLS AMONG SUPPORTIVE ADULTS AND LIKE-MINDED FRIENDS…
INDEPENDENT ASSESSOR, WRITING PROGRAMME
By making writing fun and accessible we help young people find their voices. And our publishing platforms make sure their voices are heard…
Our workshops and programmes are always free for young people and their families.
Due to an ancient curse, we receive the profits from our neighbours Hoxton Street Monster Supplies, which helps, but that doesn’t cover everything.
So we also rely on donations. You can help right now, if you like.
And we apply for funding from various sources. Our funders are very important for helping us continue with our work (thank you!).
