Could you be our Writing Champion?
Here at the Ministry we are very excited by a new kind of creative writing club for schools that we’re piloting.
We’ve been working hard this year with students and teachers in two local schools to develop a peer-mentored writing programme that we’re currently calling Writing Champions.
Our idea is to train teachers and children to set up and run their own writing club in their school with our support. MoS would provide training for the teacher to run the club and for a group of students to become writing mentors to their younger counterparts. We would then provide ongoing advice and contact for you and a mix of physical and digital activities and resources to support the club’s writing projects.
The overall aim is that Writing Champions improves the motivation to write, the creativity and craft of lots of children, not just in east London, but across the country.
The pilot programme will be evaluated in the summer, but in the meantime, if you’re a teacher in a UK primary or secondary school, we really want to know if Writing Champions could be of interest to you.
If you complete the form by 5 pm on Monday 2 July, you will be in with a chance to win some free writing resources from the Ministry in a hamper of lovely monster goodies from Hoxton Street Monster Supplies. How can you resist?
