Back in 1925, Penguin founder Allen Lane published the first Penguin paperbacks after realising that few readers could afford quality books at hardback prices. The Penguin books cost sixpence (the same as a packet of cigarettes) and were sold in chain stores and tobacconists, available to everyone. In 2013, Penguin and Random House came together to form a global book publishing company.

Today, Penguin Random House UK have over 2,000 colleagues publishing books for all audiences covering fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s books, autobiographies and much more.
