The Story That Moves
The Story that Moves rolls in to Ministry of Stories HQ
This month, our young writers and visiting school groups have been getting hands on with this giant storybook and all the inspiration it has to offer.
The Story that Moves is a giant storybook on wheels that will tour the UK, forming a centrepiece for bespoke writing workshops and collecting original stories created by young writers and their families. Designed by Will Atkins of Make Relief, the book arrives with a kit of story parts, offering the chance to choose a different story genre, from adventure to mystery to science fiction, generating a kaleidoscope of child-led stories, unleashed from young imaginations across the country.
Designed by Will Atkins of Make Relief, the Story that Moves comes with a kit of imagination-sparking resources. Open it up to find mystery object boxes, utilise the pinboard to map out your ideas, or roll out the giant reams of paper and get writing.
Last week, all of our community lab sessions were centred around this giant visitor. Our young writers pried open the giant storybook and got stuck in, creating collaborative stories inspired by what they found. One story was out of this world with an alien that “was wearing tongue themed clothes”. The alien said “glewhewhews” which meant “hello, what’s your name?”
Sadly, we have to say goodbye to The Story That Moves because, well, it’s moving! Next stop: The Story Museum in Oxford, where even more young storymakers will add their voices to the project.
