Hannah Shury-Smith

Hannah is a writer and facilitator, specialising in creative writing, community engagement and archives-rooted workshops. Her debut full-length play was awarded the 2022 Alfred Fagon Award for Best New Play of the Year; she has received commissions from the Donmar Warehouse, Royal Court Theatre and Theatre503; and her plays have been performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Talawa. Previous community engagement work has included developing Black Cultural Archives’ award-winning Youth Programme, and creating a short film with The Big House and Studio Gruff. She currently works part-time at The National Archives, facilitating archival workshops with KS1-5 groups. Hannah joins Ministry of Stories after being a volunteer Writing Mentor and part of the Trainee Programme.
