We’re excited to announce four new offers for schools.
We’ve heard how much you value bringing our professional Writing Facilitators into your classrooms to inspire and motivate your pupils. And we also know how much you learn by working alongside our writers, and then building their approaches into your teaching practice. Which is why we’re happy to announce our new offers for schools.
We know the drive for oracy is high on schools’ agenda – so all of our programmes have oracy threaded throughout them: sharing ideas, expressing opinions and feelings, and reading or performing work. Wellbeing, mental health and emotional literacy are also a priority – giving children time and space to explore who they are through their writing, offering choice, and giving pupils a voice to be heard.
We also understand that resources are tight, and just how important it is for projects to be purposeful and affordable:
Poetry Makers
- KS2, group of up to 30
- Ministry of Stories Writing Centre, Hoxton
- 2-hour one-off workshop
- £150 per class group
Help our downhearted poet regain their spark through a series of fun, fast-paced poetry making activities. Children leave the workshop with a printed class poem, and individual booklets to continue poetry making at school or home.
Outcomes: New poetry forms, techniques and vocabulary; Oracy skills through group work and performance; Encourages creativity and expression, exploring what poetry means to pupils and providing choice in what they want to write about.
Ministry Take-Over Days
- UKS1 and KS2, class groups of up to 30
- At your school
- Full day creative take over
- £300 per class group
A blast of creative energy to bring writing alive in your school – take a year-group or phase off timetable and spend the day with our professional writers. Start with a fun, interactive assembly and follow with a full day of workshops of your choice: Story Making; Comedy writing; Poetry and performance; Comic Books; and Gothic Fiction. This fully inclusive day ends with an opportunity for children to share and perform as a whole group.
Outcomes: High energy injection of creativity to motivate and inspire pupils; Creative writing, poetry and storymaking skills, developed across writing forms; Access to a range of professional writers with varied specialisms and expertise; Oracy skills through group work and performance
Young Writers Programme
- KS2, group of up to 30 pupils or as a more targeted intervention
- On site at Ministry of Stories Writing Centre, then at your school
- Four-part narrative writing programme
- £725 per group
A four-part creative writing programme, led by one of our experienced writer facilitators. Kickstart the programme with an exciting Story Making workshop at Ministry of Stories, and continue back in school with three dynamic workshops to develop pupils’ narrative writing skills. The programme ends with a sharing session in which children are encouraged to read or perform part of their finished story.
Outcomes: Build children’s confidence and stamina as writers; Support for children’s sustained writing, exploring how to structure a story, build suspense, create characters and describe setting and atmosphere; Nurture children’s motivation to write and develop their voice as authors; Supports and inspires reluctant writers.
Primary Creative Writing and Oracy Training Day
- English or Oracy Leads, Curriculum Leads, Class Teachers
- On site at Ministry of Stories Writing Centre
- Full day teacher CPD
- £175 including a toolkit for leading an oracy staff meeting yourself back at school
