We Have Joined the VRU’s Funding Portfolio

We’re incredibly proud to announce that we have joined the VRU’s funding portfolio.

The VRU, London’s Violence Reduction Unit, is an amazing team of specialists who bring people across London together to better understand why violence happens and to take action to prevent it now, and in the long-term.

We are thrilled that VRU have recognised the important role that Ministry of Stories plays in providing safe, free after-school and Saturday programmes for local families.

VRU has chosen to fund Your Story Starts Here – our free weekly community writing labs for young people aged 8-15 – over the next three years. Through our innovative storytelling and writing workshops, children gain confidence, grow in self-respect, and learn new skills.

Your Story Starts Here, consists of three 12-14 week projects in the Spring, Summer, and Autumn terms. Each project is co-created with our young people and focuses on topics that are important to them such as racial injustice or what their community will look like in the future. At the end of each project, our writers’ work is made into professionally produced pieces that have included poetry anthologies such as The Islands of Magical Poetry.

Your Story Starts Here, is an excellent platform for children and young people to unleash their imagination and to discover the power of their ideas.
