Read all about it.

We bought two Tower Hamlets Schools curriculum to life, by creating their very own newspapers based on the Ancient Greeks and Magnificent Muslims.

Working over half a term the year 5 children took on the role of newspaper reporters to create unique and surprising stories to share with families and friends. We worked closely with teachers to shape each project to increase children’s confidence in creativity and imagination,  that gave space for children to be playful and develop their oracy and creative writing skills.

The Woolmore Oracle

Woolmore Primary’s young journalists created  The Woolmore Oracle using their topic of ‘Ground Breaking Greeks’ to get behind the big stories and shine new light on what was really happening in Ancient Greece. The story of Zeus’ downfall took the front page. Theseus revealed to a reporter why he was seeking vengeance; “Secretly killing my father is an open invitation to death”.

The newspaper included a range of journalistic styles; from fashion reporting, to the big profile interview with Odysseus, to a terrifying news report of the escape of the Minotaur, to advertorial for ‘Hades’ Hot Lava Chicken’.

School Newspapers With a Twist...

Manorfield Beacon of Hope

Manorfield Primary School’s starting point was their topic of ‘Hidden Figures and Magnificent Muslims’ who changed the world. The Manorfield Beacon of Hope tells stories of inspirational people who through courage and resilience have changed the world for those around them.

One story told how Martin Luther King Jr was preserved in ice and launched into space before returning to earth. “Martin Luther King Jr (formerly unconscious) spreads the word on facebook that he is back to inspire people and show everyone he hasn’t died; he is back to show that noone should give up no matter who they are.’

He isn’t the only activist to come back to life, another article describes how ‘Rosa Parks fights racism and becomes a bus driver, saying “My bus, my rules”’. Still only 42 years old in 2025, she appears in Westfield shopping centre (before heading to Africa) to inspire people to ‘fight for civil rights and discriminated and segregated people.’

The Manorfield Beacon of Hope is packed with stories of people who have overcome hardship to give hope and inspire others. Dwayne Johnson shares a poem about never quitting, Mufti Menk answers readers’ questions; about dealing with doubt in their faith or how to stop scrolling on their phone and there is a Shakespearean play about a Usain Bolt.

With an interview with the Last Prophet (pbuh), a Word Search to tease the brain cells and an advert for stress toy Twisted Billy this newspaper really offers hope, inspiration and comfort to the readership.
