Monster Month

This October, we’re asking you to join our very first Monster Month and raise money to support our young writers.

This year, we celebrate 12 years of bringing imagination, mischief and monsters to the young people of east London. 

In that time our young people have built an escape room, hidden poetry in unexpected places, launched an album, created a museum of the future and explored and created many other writing projects along the way.

The first young people who stepped through our door are now stepping out into the world and using their voice to make a difference.

We want to make sure we can continue to create a special place for imagination and offer young people across Hackney a chance to discover their voice, confidence and creativity. Our programmes are provided free-of-charge to families and as a charity, we fundraise to cover the costs.

This October, we are inviting you to help us to raise the ambitious figure of £12,000 we need to ensure we can continue to champion young people’s creativity in the year ahead.

What is our Monster Month?

Monster Month is a virtual 12k challenge which can be completed anywhere and in the way that’s best for you! 

You could walk, run, swim, cycle or hop throughout the month of October. Or have fun knitting, baking or crocheting monster-themed items to raise funds. 

We’re asking for our supporters to raise £250 each during the challenge month.

If you reach (or exceed!) your goal, we will send you a unique Monster Month medal and add you to our live Monster Month board at Ministry of Stories HQ.

The first 20 people to sign-up for the challenge will also be invited to take part in our first ever Monster March alongside our young writers on an exciting, interactive walk through Hoxton. Places are limited, so don’t hang about!
