Posted by theministry on 28th October 2015

Meet our Minister of the Month Yuet Wong. Yuet  joined us to improve her computer skills and is now in charge of putting together all our beautiful Ministry storybooks.

Name: Yuet Wong

Volunteer role: Administration volunteer

Live: Islington

Favourite story & why: I like horror films. Ghost stories don’t scare me but the thought of real ghosts does.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am a perfectionist and I am easy going. I am originally from Hong Kong but moved to London on 1st September 1982. I have twin sons.

Why did you decide to volunteer with Ministry of Stories?

To gain experience and new skills, especially on the computer, to help me get a job. I am also in college studying English and Maths.

Were you nervous about anything before starting?

Nervous at first and scared that I wouldn’t understand things, but after a couple of weeks I felt better .

What has been the best experience of volunteering?

Learning new skills, such as using the valuation box in excel. I enjoy making notebooks for the after-school clubs and sealing envelopes with the Ministry of Stories stamp. I also like using the computer to print children’s names onto storybook covers.

Describe the Ministry of Stories in three words:

Reputable, friendly, hard working

What would you say to other people thinking of volunteering with the Ministry?

They are very good and very nice to you. You don’t feel scared, you feel relaxed there.
