Introducing Régis Cochefert
We’re very pleased to announce our new Chair of the Board Régis Cochefert.
Régis currently works at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, one of the UK’s ten largest grant-making foundations. With an extensive background in arts administration and fundraising we are very happy to have him at the tiller.
As our new Chair of the Board, we felt it was important to make sure Régis takes fun seriously, so we gave him this quick pop-quiz:
What’s your favorite story?
I have always liked the stories of Babar the Elephant. Even though they are children stories, I am struck by how little they have aged and the illustrations are vivid in my mind.
I have the books which were my mother’s and they are very precious to me. I have read these stories to the children of friends, to young cousins and to Godchildren of mine. I like the fact that I continue to make these stories alive even today.
Describe yourself in three words
French – with glasses and a beard (for the moment).
Thickest Human Snot or Olde Fashioned Brain Jam*?
Definitely Thickest Human Snot – with so many people having colds, I’ll never be out of supply!
If you could live in a book for a day, which one would it be and why?
I have been very struck by the worlds that Ursula K Le Guin created in her six Earthsea books. For me, it was the first time I entered a fantasy world where magic was prevalent and I’d love to experience it – even for a day.
These books are old (the first one was written in 1968, when I was one year old!) and I read them first when I was a teenager, but I have occasionally re-read them whilst on holiday. Take me there now…
Régis adds: “I’m really excited to take on the role of Head of the Board at the Ministry of Stories because the work of the Ministry is so important to local young people. I’m looking forward to getting to know all the supporters better and keeping you informed about the upcoming plans for the organisation.”
