Anthology of the Alps
Enter the icy wonderment of Shoreditch Park Primary School’s anthology
This anthology is the culmination of Tan and Dahl classes brilliant work, which started back in October 2025 with Ministry of Stories Writing Facilitator Michelle McMahon.
Kathryn Green, Deputy Headteacher, Shoreditch Park Primary School said; ‘Taking ‘the Alps’ as a starting point, we have seen the children from both classes grow in confidence and embrace their role as creative writers to produce this collection of works to be proud of… we have all learnt so much from (Ministry of Stories) endless enthusiasm and encouragement. It has been such a joy to see all of our children contributing ideas and engaging in the writing process each week.’

Michelle, Ministry of Stories Writing Facilitator added; ‘The art of writing about the Alps is a fine one. For centuries it has inspired writers and storytellers, attracted adventurers, and provided people and animals icy passage through its terrain. Full of secrets, lost objects and letters, myths and legends, castles and creatures never seen before (or possibly again), there is so much more to be told about this region. More than we ever imagined when we set out to make this anthology.

Every poem captures the atmosphere of a moment, feeling or experience; every story opens a path to new worlds and courageous quests – some with endings yet to be discovered. As you delve deeper into your reading journey, keep your ears peeled for the sound of cow bells or the warning rumble of an avalanche. Especially as you get closer to the treasure you seek, which legend has it, is buried deep inside a glacial cave. Keep your courage close, your hands warm in gloves, and your eyes open for unexpected creatures – be it an ibex defying gravity or an otax summoning water with its mouth.’
